Christmas Eve — Thursday 24th December
Your festive stay begins with a warm welcome and a luxurious seasonal gift, accompanied by a drink served in your room or at the bar – the perfect introduction to Christmas in St Mawes.
Guests may enjoy optional return Ferry Tickets to Falmouth or entry to Trelissick Gardens, ideal for a gentle winter wander — whether you choose a scenic harbour crossing to vibrant Falmouth or a peaceful stroll through Trelissick’s parkland and woodland with far‑reaching river views. For those seeking a little extra indulgence, an afternoon treatment at Sevan Spa offers a serene moment of relaxation before the evening’s celebrations.
As dusk falls, gather on the terrace for early evening carols. Overlooking the harbour, it offers a gentle coastal backdrop for this festive moment, complete with canapés, indulgent seasonal drinks, and a traditional Christmas sing‑along that brings everyone together.
The evening continues with a luxury sea‑to‑table dinner, where you’ll choose from the day’s Cornish catch and enjoy it prepared simply and beautifully, accompanied by seasonal sides and refined sauces. It’s a relaxed, indulgent celebration of local waters — the kind of dinner that feels perfectly at home in St Mawes. A special turndown treat awaits you on your return, a quiet moment of indulgence to end Christmas Eve by the sea.
Christmas Day — Friday 25th December
Christmas Day at The Idle Rocks is the heart of your stay. A day designed for indulgence, comfort, and the quiet luxury of being by the sea.
Begin with a relaxed breakfast, complete with a festive Mimosa. The morning is yours to enjoy the gentle calm of the village, and the warmth of the hotel as it settles into Christmas Day. Whether exchanging gifts, taking part in your own family traditions, or simply enjoying a quiet moment together, it’s a beautifully unhurried start to the day.
At lunchtime, gather for the centrepiece of your escape: an exceptional Christmas feast. Served overlooking the water, this celebration highlights the finest Cornish produce; generous, elegant, and thoughtfully prepared. Led by Executive Chef Guy Owen, expect beautifully executed classics, refined seasonal touches, and the warm hospitality that defines Christmas at Idle. It’s indulgent, comforting, and meant to be enjoyed at a relaxed pace.
The afternoon invites you to unwind at your own pace. Settle into The Hidden Cinema for a festive film, or relax in the lounge with a seasonal drink and the gentle hum of Christmas Day around you. Whether you choose quiet time, conversation, or simply watching the harbour, the hotel offers a calm, luxurious space to enjoy the day.
In the evening, return for a chef‑led Taste of Christmas grazing experience, an artisan interpretation of seasonal favourites served from 7pm–9pm. Beautifully curated and relaxed in style, it’s the perfect way to end Christmas Day — a cosy, indulgent supper that can be enjoyed in the restaurant or as room service for a peaceful night in.
Boxing Day — Saturday 26th December
Boxing Day at The Idle Rocks is shaped by slow starts and gentle indulgence — a day to rest, recover, and enjoy St Mawes at your own pace. Enjoy a later breakfast, the perfect opportunity for a lie‑in after Christmas Day, with a Bloody Mary to ease you into the morning.
The day unfolds softly, with time to enjoy the coast entirely at your own pace – perhaps a gentle winter wander through Trelissick Gardens, a scenic ferry trip to Falmouth, a quiet moment by the fire, or an unhurried stroll around the village. However you choose to spend it, the calm of St Mawes provides a wonderfully peaceful backdrop to a day of simple, effortless leisure.
In the evening, choose between two dining experiences:
